29 July
There have been a number of calls in the area from a company purporting to be carrying out a National Crime research survey with police involvement and that they have a number of "free alarms" to donate. There are also numerous security companies, including SAS and EEC, stating they are working in conjunction with Neighbourhood Watch.
Once again we would like to remind people to never give away any personal details over the phone to cold callers and to treat any "free alarm "offer with a high degree of suspicion.
If anyone would like advice about alarms please contact the local Crime Prevention Officer Colin Clare whose advice is free and independent.
20 May
David Cockerton, aged 44 from Hertford, last made contact with a friend at around midnight last night (Wednesday 19 May). Police were contacted after David failed to show for work today.
David drives a black 54-Reg Land Rover Discovery. He has family in Suffolk as well as friends in Broxbourne, so may well be in these areas.
He is described as a white man, with short spiky brown hair, of a medium build and approximately 5ft 10 tall. He has a condition which causes white patches on his skin.
"We are extremely concerned for David's welfare, as this behaviour is completely out of character for him," said Inspector Tim Johnson who is leading the investigation. "David's family and friends are worried about him and I'd appeal for David, or anybody who recognises a man matching his description or that or his vehicle, to get in touch immediately."
If anyone has any information, please contact police straight away on 0845 33 00 222.

We would just like to remind you there are a number of scams continuing to do the rounds. Some of the current ones are to do with free alarms you are eligible for, or have won.
May we please remind you that there is no such thing as something for nothing !!
If you are looking to purchase any item or service, the best way to go about it is by word of mouth from family, friends or neighbours. Think about it, you would not wait for someone to knock on your door or ring you and offer you a television !!
